Friends, Being an independent musician is a funny thing. You spend hours upon hours in a small, loud room digging deep into your soul exposing secrets and newly-tapped emotions in the form of 4 minute poems and wailing guitar solos. You work hard, really hard, to craft these into songs that will both intrigue your audience and satisfy you and your bandmates. More often than not, the mounds of hours spent creating your vision usually goes unnoticed. Bands fall apart after a few weeks or a few years, usually due to the passion of each of its members moving in different directions. You see, when you're putting in so much of yourself into something, and others are pushing you in other directions, sometimes the best thing to do is just walk away and try again. It's not fun to be the one walking away or be the one being walked out on. And then the cycle starts over. Rest in Peace, my past projects: Stereojerk, Quarterstick, Mad Mardigan, Whiskey Sin, Dim, Fire In The Hole and Fade. So, here I am, at the beginning of the cycle again. But this time, I swear it's going to different. I'm going to break the cycle. I'm going to put myself out there in the last way I can. In doing so, it's going to be a celebration of the music I have been a part of in the past 15 years. I'm going to spend time paying tribute to the other artists that have inspired me and the other musicians I've had the privilege to work with. I'd like to announce my new project, hopefully one that will never fizzle away: ZIOLO. I will be focusing on playing some of the songs I've been a part of in my musical career, songs that have inspired me, and some new songs. Stylistically, it'll range from rock to blues to jazz to folk and back to rock. I've asked some of my friends in the music scene to work with me to in both a live and studio setting to move my need to create music forward indefinitely. It all kicks off JANUARY 6TH at the world-famous Double Door in Chicago. I'll be playing with Tony Covganka on drums and Adriano Pezzella on bass. I'll be hitting the stage promptly at 8:00 and I'd be absolutely ecstatic to have you there to share this celebration with me. You can get directions at www.doubledoor.com. Double Door is waiving the cover charge for this show. Then, you can stick around to watch Whiskey Sin, all great musicians that I've spent many hours in a "small, loud room" with. Please make sure you tell 'em at the door, you're there to see ZIOLO. All of you, thanks for the many years of support. Many of you have helped me chase a dream that I have not yet given up on. For that, I'm indebted to you. Jason ZIOLO Facebook Event www.ziolo.com www.facebook.com/jasonziolo www.twitter.com/jasonziolo |
